Here's what others are Saying about Cygnet Brown:
"I've known Cygnet Brown as a writing colleague and a friend for many years. Her work is always polished, professional and interesting reading. She uses the tools of writing with skill and craftsmanship. If you read something published by or written by Cygnet Brown, you know you've got the best of the best. I recommend her wholeheartedly for any work involving the written word." Nancy Carol Brown, Hardin, Freelance Writer, Las Vegas, Nevada
She Does her due research, and she does not just write. . .she talks to you. If she publishes something it is worth reading." Noel Napolitan, Owner at Kaya Self-Sufficiency, Simla, Colorado
"Donna (Cygnet) does a great job in a timely manner," Ira King, Horse Logger, Pennsylvania
"Cygnet Brown's first novel, "When God Turned His Head," was a worthy first book by any critic's standards, but her "Soldiers Don't Cry" is a conflict-filled work of fiction which kept me turning the pages far into the night. If you enjoy accurate historical novels with passionate characters representative of the 1770's, then this novel is for you. I highly recommend it and am looking forward to Brown's next installment in the Locket Saga.
Donna (Cygnet) is a the wife of a good friend of mine, Jeff Brown. Through him, I discovered her creative writing abilities as she has authored two well-received novels When God Turned His Head and Soldiers Don't Cry. Both are outstanding novels. She is a serious author, but still has time to make a few choice comments to a gadfly like me." Larry Nevenhoven, Former Real Estate Agent, Temecula, California
When God Turned His Head
"Her book When God Turned His Head was a must for my middle son for Christmas. He hopes to become a writer to balance his first pursuit of chemical engineering. Thank you for this book!" Jeff Robinson Project Manager III at Huntington Ingalls Industries.
"I got to know Donna (Cygnet) years ago when we attended the same church. In more recent years, Donna (Cygnet) has written and published historical fiction. A few months ago I read her novel When God Turned His Head, and I couldn't put it down. I was so into the story and the characters that ended up reading until 2 a.m. She developed her characters so that they very were believable. The setting and plot worked perfectly, and you could tell she researched her subject well. I would recommend Donna's novels to anyone, and I look forward to reading more of her books." Soldiers Don't Cry
"This is the second book in this series. The first book, When God Turned His Head, incorporated the history of our country leading up to the Revolutionary War with the fictional account of the lives of Kanter Thornton and his long time love, Drusilla. Kanter and Drusilla had much to overcome to start their lives together. Soldiers Don't Cry began after Kanter and Drusilla moved west out of Boston to begin a life on the frontier away from the crowded city. As the story unfolds, their youngest child, Elizabeth, returns to Boston to live with her older sister Rachel and Rachel's husband Peter. During the British occupation of the Boston area, Elizabeth's childhood friend, Phillip, returns to Boston as a young Captain in the British Army. This is their story, a story of how they tried to overcome the differences in their alligiances. I couldn't put the book down, wanting to find out if Elizabeth and Phillip were able to solve their differences." Linda Mullins, Battlefield, Missouri
'Not usually my type of book i wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. Descriptive and well written i found myself unable to put it down. The characters were likable, Elizabeth is my favorite. Her passion for what she believed in overriding everything else. The conflicted romance between Elizabeth and Philip kept me hooked all the way through wanting to know how they could overcome it.A very enjoyable book, i will definitely be reading more from this author."
